NextGen

The next generation is not the future of the church; they are the church now!

Kids

Birth – 6th

What to Expect

When you first visit Portrait, stop by our New Here—Kids Kiosk in the lobby. There, you’ll be greeted by one of our friendly servant leaders. They will give you a gift for each kiddo, guide you through the check-in process, and help you get your child to the correct class space.

Safety + Cleanliness

We value the security of your kids and go the extra mile to make sure they are in a secure environment. Upon check-in, every child will receive a name tag with a matching parent-tag identification number to safely identify parents at pickup or in case of an emergency. All Portrait Kids volunteers are given training on a continuous basis and required to complete both a background check and a sexual abuse safety training course. Additionally, Portrait Church is monitored by a Security Team, as well as a Celina Police Officer on campus to oversee a safe environment for all age groups. All toys and furnishings are cleaned and disinfected regularly for suitable use in every class space.

Age-Appropriate Curriculum

Our environments and lesson materials are designed for the various age levels of your kids and are presented in an interactive way to facilitate learning.  One unique aspect of Portrait is that for 5th and 6th graders, we offer leadership and discipleship training during the 9:00 am gathering and our regular age-appropriate curriculum during the 10:30 am gathering.

We believe that kids can best experience and express the love of Jesus through a variety of interactive activities and storytelling that helps them to engage in the Bible Stories and life application. Our environments and lesson materials help kids to understand who God is and how every story connects to Jesus. We also offer a special and unique Leadership and Discipleship class for our 5th and 6th graders during the first service (9:00 am) where preteens can learn to lead and become an active servant leader both within the church and in their daily lives. In 2nd service (10:30 am), preteens are immersed in age-appropriate curriculum that helps them to discover God’s identity, His Work, and His Word.

Youth

7th – 8th

Relationship Building

We are committed to creating a space where young people can belong, grow, and experience the love of Jesus. Our philosophy is to create space for teens to build meaningful relationships within the small group setting as they relate to their leaders and peers. We also prioritize family integration by digging into the same topics the adults work through in the Sunday message and their weekly House groups.

What to Expect

We meet through Portrait Houses on Sunday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, and seasonal events throughout the year.  All Portrait Youth volunteers are given training on a continuous basis and required to complete both a background check and a sexual abuse safety training course.

Summer Camp

Those who have completed (7th – 12th) will have the opportunity to attend camp. This is an incredible time for kids to connect with God and strengthen existing relationships. This summer we are going to be at Mount Lebanon Camp June 14th – 18th. (More details coming soon.)

Young Adults

19 – 29

What to Expect

We are all about helping the next generation stick and stay with Jesus. Thursday night a collection of young adults meetup to grow in their faith together.  Expect a chill vibe, lots of laughs, and good conversation. We’ll worship together, and open God’s word. The gathering lasts from 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm, though most of the young adults love to hangout after.
