David: I’m stoked you’re interested in being a part of Portrait. Pioneering a new church comes with unique challenges for sure, but it’s also tremendously exciting. Think about seeing people find Jesus for the first time while strengthening your own relationship with God. Does it get better than that? Before God led us to start Portrait, Jenna and I were serving at Rock Creek Church in Prosper, Texas. We are so thankful for their full support and backing. We would not be here without Pastor Brad and the rest of Rock Creek.
Jenna: At Rock Creek, I served as the Children’s Pastor, and David was Associate Pastor over Next Gen. We are raising two boys and know how important it is to have a church community that can connect with every member of the family.
David: With the population growth exploding in our area, and young families trending away from doing church the way their parents and grandparents did, we invite you to look again at what you think you already know about God. There is always a new facet of Himself God wants to reveal to us.
FAQs
What do you have for my kids?
We will have a full-blown kids ministry (birth – 5th grade) coinciding with the Sunday worship gathering. We use the Gospel Project curriculum and place a high value on evangelism and helping instill the fundamentals of faith so that kids have a firm foundation moving into middle school.
Our youth ministry will meet as Portrait House Groups. We also encourage the teenagers to sit a service and serve a service on the weekend.
What’s the plan for groups?
We plan to launch Portrait House Groups a few weeks after beginning public worship gatherings. If you have interest in leading a group, please fill out the launch team form, and we’ll be in touch!
Will you teach topical or expositional?
Our teaching style is “topigetical.” Yes, that’s a made-up word, but it punctuates how we preach topical messages while remaining faithful to the Biblical text. Listen to a previous message from Pastor David and hear for yourself.
Where will Portrait gather for worship?
Portrait will be holding the weekend worship gatherings at the new Celina Elementary school (Martin Elementary) off of Preston Road and Louisiana Drive.
What denomination are you part of?
Portrait is a non-denominational church. We define ourselves as a Bible-based, evangelistic, Spirit-empowered church. View our statement of beliefs.
We affiliate with Converge, a national church planting movement, as well as Vision Texas, and we come out of Rock Creek Church in Prosper, Texas.
