Sunday, May 31st
Part of our mission is to express the love of Jesus by reaching beyond the walls of our church to serve our community. Register to roll up your sleeves and make a difference!
What is Beyond the Walls?
Beyond the Walls weekend happens three times a year. Instead of meeting for our regular church services on Sunday, we gather to serve our community by literally going beyond the walls of our worship space. We offer a variety of service opportunities that are inclusive of the whole church body, regardless of age or skillset. Sign up for our next Beyond the Walls weekend, and together, we’ll express the love of Jesus through practical, hands-on service.
Blood Drive
(Ages 18 and up)
At Portrait, we believe Jesus calls us to love and serve our neighbors in real, tangible ways. That’s why we’re partnering with Carter Blood Care for the next Beyond the Walls event. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and one single donation can save up to three lives. Let’s help meet this need in our community! We’ll have two mobile buses on site, with room for up to 62 donors. This is your chance to make a life-saving difference. As followers of Jesus, we believe He calls us to love others sacrificially, giving not just of our resources, but of ourselves. By donating blood, you’re living out that call: being His hands, His heart, and healing in tangible form. Portrait Church invites you to be part of that mission. Sign up today, roll up your sleeve, and join us in bringing hope, healing, and life to others.
Celina ISD Improvement Projects
(Ages 12 and up)
We get to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty for our schools! As part of our Beyond the Walls projects, we’re partnering with Celina ISD to help improve Vasquez Elementary. This is a chance to serve in a very practical way, by painting four-square and hop-scotch courts, installing new tetherball courts, freshening up doors, and tackling other hands-on projects that will make a lasting difference for students and teachers. It’s not glamorous, but it’s kingdom work. Every brush stroke and every tetherball pole is a reminder that we care about our community and believe Jesus shows up when we serve with willing hands and joyful hearts. Come ready to sweat, laugh, and make memories as we love our city through simple, tangible acts of service. Sign up today and help us transform schools into spaces full of life, color, and joy!
Adopt-A-Street
(Ages 14 and up)
We’re excited to partner with the City of Celina in the Adopt-A-Street program, taking responsibility for keeping a stretch of the Dallas North Tollway clean and beautiful. This initiative is more than just picking up trash—it’s about stewarding the environment, building community pride, and reflecting the heart of Jesus in our city. Participating in Adopt-A-Street helps: reduce litter and pollution, enhance the appearance and safety of our community, and foster a sense of civic responsibility and unity among residents. By serving in this way, we’re not just cleaning streets, we’re loving our neighbors and demonstrating Christ’s care for the world He created. We invite you to join us in this effort. Whether you’re serving solo, with your family, or as part of a group, your involvement makes a tangible difference. Sign up today and be part of bringing beauty, order, and love to our community.
Servant Leader Breakfast
(Ages 18 and up)
Be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving those who serve! We’ll be preparing and serving breakfast for all servant leaders and their families, ensuring everyone is fueled and ready to make an impact in our community. This serve opportunity is onsite and open to servant leaders ages 18 and up. Please note that childcare is unavailable for this serve opportunity, so plan accordingly. Sign up today and join us in encouraging and supporting our servant leaders as they step out to love our city. It’s a simple way to serve, make a difference, and reflect the heart of Christ!
S.O.U.L Church
(Ages 11 and up)
S.O.U.L. Church exists to create a space where people can encounter Jesus and experience genuine community. Since 1995, Pastor Leon and his team have faithfully served the streets of Dallas, meeting spiritual and physical needs. More than 200 people are cared for each week through this ministry that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit. Every Sunday, rain or shine, S.O.U.L. Mobile Church gathers in an open field near Fair Park for worship and outreach. This unique “church without walls” provides prayer, food, clothing, hygiene packs, free haircuts, showers, and laundry services for our homeless neighbors. Portrait Church is honored to partner with S.O.U.L. in this incredible ministry, and we want YOU to be part of it on March 8th. Step into the mission, be the hands and feet of Jesus, and help bring hope to our city. Register today and join us in making an eternal impact!
No Sew Blankets | Tapestries of Life
(Ages 10 and up)
This project allows us to care for children beyond our city by partnering with Tapestries of Life, an orphanage in Juárez, Mexico, that exists to care for children in vulnerable situations, providing them with stability, support, and the hope of Jesus. Together, we will create no-sew fleece blankets that will be sent directly to the children living at the orphanage—giving them something warm, personal, and made with love from their church family at Portrait. When we take the time to create something as simple as a blanket, it becomes more than just fabric—it becomes a reminder to a child that they are seen, valued, and not alone.
Grace Bridge | Feed Our City
(Ages 4 and up)
This Beyond the Walls project is a special opportunity for families to serve side by side—each playing a meaningful role in bringing hope both locally and globally. Kids (ages 4–12) will jump into a hands-on, creative experience by writing encouraging letters to children in Uganda through Master Cares. Their words will remind kids across the world that they are seen, valued, and loved. They’ll also decorate food boxes for Grace Bridge, helping turn a simple delivery into something personal and joyful for families in our own community. Meanwhile, adults will take part in sorting and packaging food—portioning bulk rice and beans into family-sized bags that will go directly to local families in need. This hands-on work plays a vital role in ensuring meals are ready for distribution with care and dignity. Together, this project brings generations together to live out Relationship in Everything and Expand the Kingdom—serving with purpose, creating connection, and making a tangible difference both near and far.
Samaritan Inn | Wreath Making
(Ages 10 and up)
This project is a hands-on, creative opportunity to serve residents at Samaritan Inn. This local organization provides housing, support, and resources for individuals and families experiencing homelessness as they work toward stability and independence. Participants will create door wreaths for resident homes—adding a personal, welcoming touch to each space. This project is perfect for those who enjoy being crafty, and kids ages 10 and older are welcome to participate alongside a parent, making it a meaningful way to serve together. Going Beyond the Walls means caring for people in both practical and personal ways. A simple wreath may seem small, but it helps transform a space into a place that feels like home—reminding each resident that they are seen, valued, and cared for. This project is a tangible way to bring encouragement, dignity, and the love of Jesus into others’ everyday lives.
Childcare Servant Leader
(Ages 16 and up)
Sign up to be a childcare servant leader for kiddos ages 0–3 during our Beyond the Walls event. Your support allows adults to go out and serve the community, while you help create a safe, fun environment for our little ones!
Helping Hands
(Ages 18 and up)
This Beyond the Walls project allows Portrait to serve one of our local partners, Helping Hands, a Celina-based non-profit that supports families in need right here in our community. Volunteers will come alongside the Helping Hands team to assist with sorting and organizing donated items, helping ensure families receive what they need in an efficient and dignified way. Every item sorted and shelf organized plays a part in creating order, care, and access for neighbors walking through a hard season. This project is a simple yet powerful way to go Beyond the Walls — using our time and hands to make room for the hope and love of Jesus to reach families right here in our community.
City of Celina | Code Violation
(Ages 16 and up)
Step into a powerful opportunity to serve someone in a practical, hands-on way. Through this Beyond the Walls project, we’ll partner with the City of Celina to help care for a neighbor in need by cleaning their yard and restoring their outdoor space. Projects may include mowing, trimming trees, raking leaves, clearing debris, and hauling larger items to a dumpster. It’s a chance to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and make an immediate, visible impact for someone who may not have the ability or resources to maintain their property. More than just yard work, this is about showing up for someone in a hard season—bringing dignity, relief, and encouragement through simple acts of service. It’s a tangible way to live out Expand the Kingdom and Relationship in Everything by caring for our local community in meaningful ways.
